Clinical Trials - Focus on Milan

Lombardy is the region of excellence
for biotechnology in Italy with over 78 companies, 137 products in development and with a turnover of approximately 2.3 billion euro. At this point, it is extremely important to set up partnerships with both Italian and foreign companies to complete this development and to raise the necessary funding for the launch of new products on the market. In this context, clinical research is an indispensable step for national and international companies involved in new drug development.
Italy is a potentially competitive country in this field both in terms of costs and in the quality of the hospitals, but it needs an international proactive marketing push to improve its presentation. In this respect Lombardy represents the hub of clinical experimentation in Italy. Forty-five percent of all the clinical trials conducted in Italy are carried out within centres located in this Region and Milan, with its numerous research centres and hospitals, is at the heart of this activity.
The aim of this publication is to promote, at an international level, the Lombardy centres of excellence involved in clinical experimentation in order to strengthen the relationship between industry and research centres and hence to stimulate the growth of the local biotech industry.
